Acquisition of Witness Systems broadens Verint play in overall business analytics

Verint Systems, which bills itself as "powering actionable intelligence," is expanding beyond the realm of video analytics and network video management. The company announced today that it was acquiring Witness Systems, a U.S. company that provides solutions for customer contact management, IP-based phone call recording, speech and data analytics.

The move means not only will Verint's video surveillance be able to watch your facility, but if you're in need of customer contact management solutions, the company will be able to provide those as well.

Dan Bodner, Verint's president and CEO said that the addition of Witness Systems will help companies maximize their customer relationships.

"These organizations need actionable intelligence that enables them to truly understand what is happening across their front- and back-office," said Bodner.

The acquisition puts Verint Systems in the same workforce optimization playing field as NICE, which in addition to its NICE Vision video surveillance solutions, also offers customer and call-center analytics.

The acquisition was worth approximately $950 million.
