May 2--ELLETTSVILLE -- A developer plans to build a new office building on Ind. 46 in Ellettsville.

Kenny Williams with JNK Enterprises said Tuesday he and partner John Burks have received the OK from the Ellettsville Plan Commission to build a 3,000-square-foot professional building on a half-acre lot at 5930-5934 W. Ind. 46.

Located next door to a building that will house an office for Southern Indiana Pediatrics -- set to open later this month -- the new building will be split into three 1,000-square-foot office units.

Williams, who's been a financial adviser with Edward Jones for more than 11 years, said he hopes to move his office from the Jack's Defeat Creek shopping center to the middle of the three units.

The other units will be available for lease, although costs aren't yet available, he said.

"We'd like it to be a professional plaza there," Williams said. "I'd love to see a CPA firm or a lawyer's office."

Construction is to begin by early June, and Williams said he believes the two units will be available by the end of September.

He said the community has begun to grow in recent months, a trend he believes will only continue with the development of the North Park project along the new leg of Ind. 46 connecting Bloomington and Ellettsville.

"There's going to be a lot of development over the next several years with that," Williams said. "I think a lot of construction will be heading over towards Ellettsville -- (It's) a growing community."
