Sept. 19, 2006
Acquisition continues HSM growth mode as company spreads nationally

HSM Electronic Protection Services has purchased Fairview, N.J., dealer and monitoring provider Intruder Detection Systems (IDS).

IDS has been serving that New Jersey and New York City market for over 18 years, and the purchase of IDS expands HSM's presence in that market. HSM has been on a growth strategy since it was freed from Honeywell. Recent buys include AA Alarms of Ann Arbor, Mich., in June, Central Alarm Systems of Dallas, Texas, in March, and Denver's Jackson Burglar Alarm in October 2005.

According to the company, the goal has been to increase the company's national presence to better expand coverage for service of national accounts.

The companies did not disclose the purchase price and conditions.
