Perimeter security measures start at radius of 15km

Kancheepuram, Aug 12 (PTI) Security has been tightened around the Kalpakkam atomic station in Tamil Nadu to avert any possible attack ahead of Independence Day, police sources said.

State police and Army personnel have started combing operations within a radius of 15 km around the station. Two naval ships have been stationed offshore Kalpakkam.

The power plant has been tightly cordoned off by the Tamil Nadu Commando forces, while an outer ring of personnels has been set up by police.

Police sources said a national-level team of security personnel has inspected the arrangements.PTI
