Turner Construction lands contracts for $317M to build out university facilities

CINCINNATI , Feb. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Turner Construction Company has beenawarded two contracts totaling $317 million to provide construction managementservices for the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Ky.

The scope of work includes construction of a $300 million, 1 million sq.-ft. patient care facility and a 1,600-space parking garage. The hospital willbe constructed in two phases, allowing for step-by-step replacement of theexisting Albert B. Chandler hospital. The new facility will allow for manylevels of patient care, with more flexibility than currently exists at mosthospitals in the United States . The hospital will provide state-of-the-artspace for emergency care, interventional care, imaging and surgery, includingtwo towers of private patient rooms. Completion is scheduled for 2010.

In addition, Turner is serving as the construction manager for theUniversity of Kentucky's Student Health Services Facility. The $17 millionproject will house the University's Health Services program and will includeconstruction of 70,000-sq.-ft. of medical offices, exam rooms and a pharmacy.Completion is scheduled for Spring 2008.
