SIAC, the Security Industry Alarm Coalition, reported today that its annual donation have now topped $750,000.

The organization, created as a spin-out from efforts of the NBFAA, SIA, CSAA and CANASA, has focused itself on efforts to create workable relationships between the alarm industry and the law enforcement community. It is perhaps best known for its opposition to verified response policies and its public support of enhanced verification policies, which require two calls be made to attempt to define whether an alarm signal is valid or a false alarm.

The organization now reports that some 34 top alarm companies are supporting the SIAC goals with financial support. That support, says the organization's executive director, Stan Martin, is one indicator that the organization has been fairly successful in its goals.

“We continue to gain partners and financial support because of the success we’ve had in public safety," said Martin. "Dispatches are declining and alliances between the alarm providers and police agencies are on the rise.”

The organization has been able to rely on services and assistance from two top alarm companies. ADT’s Bill Cooper and Jon Sargent both dedicate their time to SIAC issues, as does Brink’s Home Security’s Dave Simon.
