A4S Security to Acquire Vizer Group and Avurt

Acquisition to add non-lethal weapons company and networked security integration company

Digital video company A4S Security is looking to expand. The company announced Thursday afternoon that it had signed letters of intent to acquire both Vizer Group and Avurt International. A4S has become best known for its mobile video solutions under the ShiftWatch brand, and recently announced intent to change its name to "Security with Advanced Technology Inc."

The Vizer Group, based in Westminster, Colo., is a systems integration company known for delivering networked access control, video surveillance and intrusion detection system. The company has focused on converged security systems, and is known for delivering access to those systems through the computer as well as network-connected mobile devices like cellular phones and PDAs. The company's technology and installation expertise has been used by such companies as ConAgra, Remington Arms, Ameriquest Mortgage and Johnson & Wales University.

The acquisition of Avurt, on the other hand, takes the company into an entirely different market -- one of non-lethal weapons. Avurt distributes non-lethal weapons such as the PepperBall brand series of projectiles, and Avurt has announced intentions to deliver a new launcher this year that would work with PepperBall's projectiles.

A4S' Chairman Greg Pusey said the advantage of the two acquisitions would be the company's broader footprint in the security market. The acquisition would cost A4S $3 million, with a possible additional $2 million payout. The company has already advanced $250,000 as part of the forthcoming acquisition.
