Acquisition creates product synergy between GTO's gate operators and Linear's access control product line

Carlsbad, Calif.-based Linear has purchased Tallahassee, Fla.-based GTO, a manufacturer of automatic gate openers. Financial terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed.

GTO is known for its professional series GTO/PRO Professional Access Systems in addition to a do-it-yourself gate line.

The acquisition of GTO aligns closely with Linear's business, which has established itself in the areas of access control, radio controls, garage and gate operators, wireless security systems, and emergency reporting systems.

Linear's Chairman Grant Rummell called the acquisition "an excellent fit for our Entry Systems business," noting that the purchase allows Linear to provide a more complete gate controls offering to the security marketplace. The deal is expected to bring new distribution channels to both companies.

Rummell added that GTO will continue to be independently managed.

"Our philosophy is to seek well run, profitable companies and help them grow faster than they could on their own," said Rummell in a prepared statement announcing the details of the acquisition.
