Bosch reported this morning that it has invested the equivalent of $58 million USD to create a new manufacturing facility in China which produces security systems products.
The new plant is located in Zhuhai, a city within China's Guandong Province. The plant is said to cover some 147,000 square feet, making it the largest plant for Bosch Security Systems. The plant will employ 1,500.
According to Bosch, the establishment of the Zhuhai plant helps the company produce products for the growing China and Asia-Pacific markets. Additionally, some of the products manufactured may be distributed globally.
The plant will manufacture Bosch's intrusion, fire, video, communication, conference and public address systems, plus access control products and security management systems. The plant has new assembly line technology and a full-range of testing stations and equipment to ensure product quality. While the chief focus of the Zhuhai plant will be production and manufacturing, Bosch announced that there will be a 50-person R&D team based in Zhuhai at the facility.
