Honeywell enters large and growing hazardous gas detection marketplace

Honeywell has completed its acquisition of hazardous gas detection company Zellweger Analytics for an undisclosed amount.

Zellweger Analytics, a 40-year-old company which has had annual sales of about $170 million, will join Honeywell's Life Safety division inside the company's "Automation and Control Soluions business".

The company's detection systems products are used in the oil and gas industry for plant safety.

"This expertise complements our existing fire and sensors portfolio and will greatly enhance and expand our sensing and detecting capabilities," said Mark Levy, president of Honeywell Life Safety, in a statement to the industry. "Our customers will have access to a full suite of gas detection solutions in industries where potentially hazardous chemicals and gases exist."
