The city of San Luis Obispo's wastewater treatment plant at 35 Prado Road was broken into Thursday night, according to the San Luis Obispo Police Department.

As officers responded to a burglary alarm, dispatchers received a telephone call notifying them that four male subjects were seen running from the area across Highway 101.

After a check of the area, however, police were unable to locate the four suspects, who had broken into several construction trailers used to store construction tools. Numerous tools were removed from the trailers, but the suspects were interrupted before they were able to complete the theft, according to police.
