Sept. 25, 2004

The Stockholm stock exchange was briefly evacuated Thursday afternoon after a fire alarm sounded, said the company that operates it, OMX AB.

``It was some sort of false alarm,'' OMX spokeswoman Annika Molander said. ``It did not affect trading and we are up and running as usual.''

Another spokesman, Anna Rasin, said a small amount of smoke was detected during a test of the building's ventilation system, adding there was no fire.
