France bound Lufthansa airliner makes emergency landing

Agence France-Presse English Wire via NewsEdge Corporation : BERLIN, Sept 2 (AFP) - A Lufthansa passenger plane bound for France made an emergency landing in Stuttgart, southern Germany Thursday, after smoke was noticed in the cockpit, police said.

The Boeing 737-300 aircraft, which had 107 people aboard, was 35 minutes into a flight from Frankfurt to Lyon in eastern France when the smoke was noticed, a spokesperson said.

The plane landed without incident and the passengers were put aboard another aircraft to complete their journey.

The cause of the smoke was not immediately known.
