Fifth Annual ASG Security Expo Focuses on Integration of IT and Physical Security

More than 250 attendees get glimpse of latest security trends and technologies

SEATTLE - More than 250 people attended the fifth annual ASG Security Expo, hosted on Nov. 10 at Safeco Field by leading security solutions integrator ASG. This year's event focused on integrating IT and physical security into comprehensive security solutions. The conference received outstanding reviews from attendees and vendors alike: "The ASG Expo significantly raised the bar for security systems integrators," said Dan Sterry, director of business development at Lenel Systems International. "The Expo was unique in that it showed the security market how to meet client needs, and provided both the security vendors and their clients with a communication process (the "ASG Path-to-Value") for defining, executing and sustaining a security solution over time. It also underlined the importance of accessing subject matter experts at key milestones along the Path-to-Value."

The focus of this year's ASG Expo was Security in a Converging World. Participants engaged with expert industry speakers -- who represented risk management, security benchmarking and consulting, as well as technology -- providing perspectives on organizational, technological, and industry-specific convergence issues. Between presentations, participants were able to talk directly with leading product companies throughout the all-day trade show featuring the latest security products and solutions, including access control, CCTV and intelligent video, and alarm intrusion.

"This is an incredible forum for anyone interested in understanding and leading change in security," said Patrick Donaldson of MetsgerForbes, a leading security consultant. "The ASG Expo focuses as much on the interrelationships within the security market as it does on vendor and integrator relationships with security clients, providing a very sharp tool to cut through the hype and move to important issues of value, change and change management."

"Organizationally, it is important to recognize that within the security market and within most organizations we have been forced into silos," said Phil Aronson, CEO of ASG. "The architect or owner may be unfamiliar with the value of the security consultant and integrator; the IT department may not have the background to fully value the Physical Security department; the CFO may not fully understand the cost or value elements of security. Today's solutions must approach security in a holistic way. The good news is that everyone benefits from this approach."
