Amherst Alarm, a growing Western New York security company, has bought up the assets of what was previously Adelphia Security's Buffalo office. The assets were acquired from Devcon Security Services Corp.

Devcon, based in Florida, acquired Adelphia's Buffalo Office in March, and has serviced those customers from its Florida office.

Amherst Alarm has said that it plans to keep Adelphia's local Buffalo employees, and will likely add a few more employees over the next six months.

"Prior to this purchase we had been monitoring 12,000 local customers," said Tim Creenan, CEO of Amherst Alarm, in a statement on Tuesday. "Now we will be adding 2,500 new monitored alarm accounts and want them to receive the same high level of support that all of our present customers do."

Amherst Alarm, with more than 40 employees and its own UL-listed monitoring station, was the only local company to make a bid for the former Adelphia operations.

With this and other acquisitions from the past few years, Amherst has gained an estimated 3,700 new accounts.
