In-vehicle video system manufacturer moves into the folds of L-3

L-3 Communications has announced that it has acquired Mobile-Vision, a Boonton, N.J.-based manufacturer of in-vehicle video systems used primarily for law enforcement agencies.

As part of the Acquisition, Mobile-Vision will be renamed to L-3 Communications Mobile-Vision. Financial details of the acquisition have not been disclosed.

Mobile-Vision offers a variety of video recording systems, including both analog and digital system, and is estimated to have seen its product installed in 50,000 systems.

The company has stayed on the cutting edge with car-mounted DVRs that include Flash memory, GPS data, and multiple video and audio inputs, as well as software for the playback and review of the video.

Mobile-Vision will be included in the L-3 Products Group, a group overseen by Charles J. Schafer.
