List named students, staff and faculty, with threats and slurs; local police on extra patrol after finding note

Miami-Dade school police officers this week are on special patrol at a Northwest Miami high school after a ''hit list '' -- naming students, faculty and staff members -- was found on campus last week, school officials confirmed.

The parents of the students named, along with school staffers, have been notified, said John Schuster, spokesman for the school district.

The list or note, contained ''vulgar slurs and threats,'' said Schuster, who added that the note was found in a school bathroom Feb. 1. The nature of the threats were unclear.

Since the list's discovery, security has been heightened at the school at 18350 NW 67th Ave., Schuster said.
