Honeywell Sells Off Italian Portion of ESSER Fire Alarm Systems

July 7, 2005
Sale required by European Commission as part of Novar acquisition

As part of the acquisition of Novar announced this past March, Honeywell International has sold off the ESSER Italia fire alarm systems business to DEF Italia, for an undisclosed amount.

The sale of the ESSER Italia fire alarm systems operations was a requirement of the European Commission to meet with the commission's approval for purchase of Novar. According to a statement from Honeywell, the sale doesn't mean the total removal of ESSER from the company.

"Honeywell will continue to sell ESSER branded products outside of Italy," read a statement from Honeywell International. "Honeywell will continue to operate Novar's non-fire businesses in Italy, including building management systems, security, Ackermann nurse call and Brand-Rex cabling systems."
