Coalition of companies announced plans to build one of three proposed ethanol plants in Fayette County

A coalition of companies announced plans yesterday to build one of its three proposed ethanol plants in Fayette County.

If Demeter Enterprises LLC receives approval from various local and state boards, it could begin construction of the Bloomingburg plant late this summer. The Fayette County plant would be fully operational in late 2006 or early 2007.

Demeter Enterprises is owned by several private partners, including Cargill Inc., which would market the product and arrange for the corn needed to make ethanol. Cargill is the third-largest ethanol producer in the country.

The plant would create nearly 60 full-time jobs.

The company also plans to build plants in Indiana and Nebraska.
