Tyco Security Products announces rebranding of company at ISC West

At ISC West on Wednesday, Tyco Security Products announced that Visonic Technologies, a division of Visonic. Ltd. that develops Real Time Location Systems (RTLS), has been rebranded as Elpas.

In a statement, Tyco, which acquired Visonic late last year, said that there was an "immediate synergy" between the product portfolio of Visonic Technologies and their own integration strategies. Elpas is the current name of Visonic Technologies' real time location awareness system.

According to Tyco Security Products President Mark VanDover, the Elpas brand has excellent penetration in the healthcare market.

"The Elpas solutions nicely complement Tyco Security Products current portfolio of access control, video, and intrusion products," he said in the statement. "By layering RTLS functionality with our different security products and platforms, we can provide a broad range of cost-effective ways to enhance the protection of high-value assets, staff members, patients and visitors in a variety of markets."

At the show, Tyco is demonstrating the integration between Elpas and Software House technologies using RTLS tracking data as events within the C-Cure 9000 access control system, which allows for the triggering of appropriate response protocols such as the lockdown of doors.

VanDover added that the company will also be integrating the Elpas technology with its Victor video management system.
