New company president looks to expand firm’s geographic footprint

Security Partners, a Lancaster, Pa.-based provider of wholesale monitoring services to dealers across the nation, announced this week that Michael Bodnar has been named president of the company.

A security industry veteran with more than 20 years of experience, Bodnar got his start at Commonwealth Security in the 80s. From there, Bodnar would hold positions at a variety of companies both large and small such as SecurityLink, Intellicare Network and most recently at VRI.

Though Ohio-based VRI provided Bodnar with an opportunity to work in the medical alert systems field which he had success in, he said taking over as president at Security Partners offered him a chance to be closer to his family in Pennsylvania, as well as work for an ownership family with which he had great familiarity.

"It was a company I knew very well and admired," he said. "I saw an opportunity not just to get back home, but to become a steward of an organization that is concerned about quality."

Bodnar, who has been on the job at Security Partners for about three weeks, said that he's still in the process of crafting his growth strategy for the company. He indicated, however, that they are looking to increase their geographic footprint by bringing more dealers onboard that are considered to be leaders in their respective markets.

"It starts with picking the right dealers and helping them grow their business. When I say the right dealers, I mean those that are proactive and considered to be leaders in their market for sales and service," Bodnar explained. "We are in a unique position to customize our products and service offerings for our dealers."

One of the ways that Bodnar says they're creating customized products is though the offering of services such as managed video and access control. With managed video, he said that dealers can offer their customers a variety of services such as virtual guard tours and video verification of alarms that can boost their RMR.

"We're able to do guard tours and assist in the protection of a facility. It's all customized to a dealer's needs," Bodnar said. "Our operators are specially trained to be able to quickly access and interpret what's going on."

Bodnar added that Security Partners we be exhibiting at the ESX show in Nashville in June where they will be rolling a new mobile GPS solution to attendees.
