Purchase of assets from Advanced Control Technologies leads to development of new residential, commercial offerings

Linear, a Calif-based manufacturer of security systems and access control products, announced this week that it will soon be introducing new products that operate on the Z-Wave communications protocol to its line of wireless residential and commercial offerings.

According to a statement, the development of these new Z-Wave products is a result of the company’s recent purchase of certain assets from Advanced Control Technologies, Inc.

Linear said that the Z-Wave standard has been adopted by many industries that the company has served for years such as telecommunications, security, hospitality, as well as light commercial and residential systems integration.

"The adoption of Z-Wave is a significant step forward for Linear since it allows us to immediately upgrade our smart control offerings while bringing a whole new level of innovation and intelligence to our customers and dealers," said Duane Paulson, senior vice president of product and market development for Linear in a statement. "Linear's existing line of health and wellness, security and access control products will benefit from the interoperability Z-Wave brings, allowing us to build a unified platform architecture for both residential and institutional segments."
