Jay Hauhn Excellence in Partnerships Award to recognize those who help foster industry collaboration

Last week, the Security Industry Association announced during its annual awards and charity dinner that it is creating a new award in honor of the association’s outgoing board chairman Jay Hauhn.

According to a statement, the Jay Hauhn Excellence in Partnerships Award will recognize “contributions to the electronic physical security and life safety industry through a commitment to fostering collaboration among industry trade associations and advancing the interests of their collective memberships and the entire industry.”

"As a recognized and influential leader within ESA, CSA and SIA, as well as the Alarm Industry Communications Committee (AICC), Hauhn enthusiastically identifies meaningful opportunities for collaboration among the national associations, particularly in the areas of government relations, education and standards. In addition to encouraging increased partnerships between industry organizations, the cornerstone of Hauhn's tenure as SIA chairman has been the proactive outreach by SIA to end-user and vertical market organizations. His collaborative spirit serves as an example for SIA Members and industry stakeholders," said SIA CEO Don Erickson.

Hauhn, who serves as chief technology officer and vice president of industry relations for Tyco Integrated Security, said: "It is essential to continually find ways to provide value for our members. I believe a highly impactful approach is to increase collaboration among associations. Whether it is working with industry associations on shared issues facing our collective membership or working with vertical market associations to help our members meet end-user needs, there is tremendous value in breaking out of our silos, identifying common denominators and focusing on aligning our goals to achieve benefits for our members."

SIA will present the Hauhn Award each year to an individual with a SIA member company who has taken specific action(s) to foster collaboration between SIA and industry/end-user organizations consistent with SIA's overall strategic priorities. The award will recognize individual contributions to increasing SIA member value through partnerships.
