T-Mobile enters connected home security market with Nest security pack offering

Wireless carrier also named the exclusive cellular backup provider for Nest Secure

T-Mobile announced on Wednesday that it is entering the connected home security market with the release of its new T-Mobile Nest security pack which will be rolled out at the wireless carrier’s stores nationwide beginning on Friday.

According to a statement issued by the company, purchase of the security pack will also require a monthly T-Mobile Nest plan that includes cellular backup and the Nest Aware service, which provides intelligent alerts and 10 days of video storage for Nest Cam owners. In addition, T-Mobile has also been selected as the exclusive cellular backup connectivity provider for Nest Secure.      

The T-Mobile Nest security pack includes:

  • The Nest Secure alarm system, with
    • a Nest Guard base with keypad, motion detector, alarm and cellular backup service,
    • two Nest Detect motion and open/close sensors,
    • and two Nest Tag key fobs,
  • And a Nest Cam Indoor security camera with the aforementioned Nest Aware service.

With its reliable and continuously expanding LTE footprint, T-Mobile provides that critical cellular backup connection.”

With the T-Mobile Nest plan, the security pack is available for $240 down and $10 per month.
