LAS VEGAS — ASSA ABLOY introduced a new Intelligent Keys certification program developed to connect systems integrators with more business opportunities at ISC West.

“Integrators have always said intelligent keys were the domain of the locksmith, but the cloud is changing that,” explained Mark Duato, the company’s Executive VP of aftermarket solutions. “Now there are recurring service revenues to build around this for integrators.”

The Intelligent Key Solutions provide affordable, easy-to-install, full-featured access control options, while also delivering a recurring revenue model for integration businesses. Integrators simply replace the cylinder of a lock with an intelligent key cylinder and provision the access rights on the key.

“What we are introducing here is a cloud-based architecture that enables access control provisioning for integrators,” Duato explained. “Integrators can deploy access control rights on a physical key matched up with a particular opening, and capture that data on the key itself and on the cylinder, and they can deliver that without infrastructure costs.”

"Cloud services have become an integral part of the way we do business, and we can leverage the power of secure cloud-based subscription services to change the way that we manage access control," Chris Villarreal, Intelligent Key business development manager for the systems integrator channel at ASSA ABLOY, said in a statement. "Today's security integrators are leveraging this innovative technology to deliver flexible, cost-effective solutions to help customers increase security, accountability and compliance on every opening."

The business benefits to security dealers and integrators include creating a stable recurring revenue model, increasing customer retention value, service and maintenance contracts, and increased business potential with new and existing clients.

"They are ideal for a number of applications that require the ability to quickly and easily manage access rights and obtain audit trails, including retail, critical infrastructure and utilities, healthcare, and education environments," Villareal added.
