New add-on module transforms telephone entry system into web-programmable appliance

Bethesda, MD, November 18, 2008 – Brivo Systems, the leader in Web applications for access control and security systems, today announced that Brivo’s intuitive browser-managed access control systems can now serve as a single point of data entry for both Brivo access control and DoorKing telephone entry systems. DoorKing is one of the country's leading manufacturers of vehicular gate operators, parking control products, telephone entry systems, and access control systems.

Powered by Brivo’s XML application programming interface, this new add-on module for DoorKing’s Account Manager software transforms a telephone entry system into a Web-programmable appliance. The integration is available for Brivo’s ACS WebService, ACS OnSite, and OnSite SE systems.

The Brivo-DoorKing add-on module is a software-only integration that retrieves account information from the Brivo access control system and provides it directly to the DoorKing Account Manager—all without any manual intervention. DoorKing’s Account Manager is a Microsoft Windows-based program that can be installed on any PC to communicate with a remote telephone entry system via a modem or serial connection.

The Brivo-DoorKing module is installed on the same PC as the Account Manager software and does not require additional PCs or physical components—just an Internet connection. Once the add-on is installed, the Brivo system is regularly polled for up-to-date resident telephone numbers, thus ensuring that the facility is both easier to manage and significantly more secure.

Adding or changing a resident telephone in the DoorKing system is simple. Administrators log into their Brivo account using their Web browser, as usual, and add the telephone number and any other details to the resident’s record. The information is transmitted automatically to the DoorKing Account Manager. The integration of the two systems’ data eliminates the need for administrators to enter the same information twice, thereby reducing data entry errors and improving overall system performance.

"Managing these systems separately wastes valuable resources for property managers and increases the chance of errors and access problems," commented Steve Van Till, Brivo President and CEO. "A single point of entry for the complete access control system streamlines data entry and improves staff productivity." In addition to saving a property manager time and money by reducing the work needed to maintain the system, increased accuracy means improved resident satisfaction and a more secure building overall. “The more errors introduced into a security system, the greater the risk of the system being compromised. The Brivo-DoorKing integration protects the integrity of the system by significantly reducing the chance of administrative errors,” concluded Van Till.
