In Memoriam: Col. Ed Badolato

HSIA recognizes legacy of homeland security expert and USMC veteran

The Homeland Security Industry Association has noted to its members that Colonel Edward Badolato, U.S. Marine Corp (retired) passed away on Oct. 30, 2008. The funeral is scheduled for Nov. 8, 2008, at the Post Chapel, Fort Myer, Va.

Col. Badolato was recognized as one of world's foremost homeland security experts and was an active participant in the HSIA and the Towson University Speakers Series (he was a TU alumnus). According to his biography on Towson University's website, Col. Badolato served under former Presidents Reagan and Bush as the deputy assistant secretary of the Department of Energy, where he specialized in counter-terrorism and emergency planning. His time in the USMC included three combat tours of Vietnam.

The family has requested that interested persons make memorial gifts in Col. Badolato's name to the Edward V. Badolato Distinguished Speaker Series Fund, c/o Towson University Foundation Inc., 8000 York Road, Towson, Maryland 21252.
