Former Breach employee heads up SME-focused, web-based security channel newcomer

ITsecurityWarehouse has launched with the bold claim that it is the UK's first serious web-only IT security dealer.

The SME-focused outfit, which has already bagged accreditations with Fortinet, Breach Security, Kaspersky, Websense, Karalon and F5, is headed up by former Breach employee Adrian Jones.

He claims he spotted a gap in the market when recruiting partners for the web application firewall vendor.

"I was at Breach for a year and talked to a lot of good high-end security resellers specialising in consultancy-led sales," he said. "However, I could not find one serious online supplier."

The reseller offers online configuration and claims it can ship all products within 48 hours.

Jones argued that many SMEs

no longer require the expertise of

traditional security VARs geared up to long sales cycles.

"I do not see how much value you can add to their fifteenth box," he said. "People will say security is too complex to sell online, but it is no more complex than colour laser printers, which are now sold on street corners."

Paul Spencer, director at security reseller Axial Systems, said that ITsecurityWarehouse was an interesting idea, adding: "It would need to have very rich and informative content to ensure end users are making the right decision."
