OSI Systems awarded $11M contract

Company to provide undisclosed customs agency with Rapiscan cargo and vehicle inspection systems

HAWTHORNE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--February 12, 2009--OSI Systems, a vertically-integrated provider of specialized electronic products for critical applications in the Security and Healthcare industries, today announced that its Security division, Rapiscan Systems, has been awarded a $11 million contract from an undisclosed international customs authority for multiple Rapiscan Eagle M4500 high energy cargo and vehicle inspection systems. The contract was the result of a competitive tender process and represents one of the largest contracts awarded within the Asia Pacific region in recent years.

The Rapiscan Eagle M4500 mobile cargo and vehicle inspection system is mounted on a road-worthy commercial truck platform. The system can be deployed to scan shipping containers and trucks in less than 20 minutes while also being capable of penetrating dense cargo at increased inspection rates without impeding the flow of commerce. The system is part of Rapiscan's Eagle product line of High Energy X-ray Cargo inspection systems that features mobile, gantry, portal and fixed deployment configurations. The products have been installed internationally for use by military, customs and border protection agencies.
