Pivot3 to showcase new data storage solution at GV Expo

Dec. 3, 2008
Company's combined NVR/SAN solution reduces power, cooling costs

WASHINGTON, D.C. – December 3, 2008 – Pivot3, Inc, the market leader in High-Definition Storage, today announced its participation at the Government Video Technology Expo 2008 (GV Expo), taking place in Washington, D.C. on December 3-4, 2008. For the first time at GV Expo, the company will showcase at booth #353 the award-winning Serverless Computing technology. Launched only a few months ago as the industry’s first combined NVR/SAN solution, it provides significant cost, power, and cooling advantages as a result of the consolidation of NVR servers into the High-Definition Storage platform. Through interactive demonstrations of its High-Definition Storage solutions, the Pivot3 team will show attendees how clustered storage can simplify the management and reduce the risk of their growing data storage environments, specifically for government applications, where large amounts of bandwidth and capacity are required.

With a strong focus on the government market, Pivot3 has already deployed its storage solutions as part of large-scale video surveillance projects at various government organizations such as the U. S. Army and a number of municipal governments. The Pivot3 storage system can accommodate thousands of analog and megapixel cameras, and can store petabytes of storage, archiving months and years of image history. The Pivot3 NVR storage technology is a powerful tool for large-scale video environments, combining the incontestable benefits of both storage and server virtualization.

"Power efficiency is a top concern for every new IT installation," said Ann Edminster, owner/principal of Design AVEnues, a leading consultant firm for new building installations seeking LEED certification. "With the amount of hype in the market about power savings, it is refreshing to see an approach that out-and-out eliminates equipment. These are savings that are easily understood by every participant in the IT purchase cycle and in operations."

As part of its ongoing efforts to collaborate with leading-edge companies in the physical security market, Pivot3 will present its storage system at GV Expo with the Exacq Technologies video surveillance solution. "We are pleased to work with Pivot3 and help our joint customers harness the benefits of NVR storage, as they are looking for ways to maximize their investments," said Dave Underwood, president of Exacq Technologies. "As a leading developer of open-architecture Video Management System (VMS) solutions for security and surveillance applications, we understand that strict data requirements, as well as power and cooling are very important pain points for our customers, and we are happy to join forces with Pivot3 in solving these problems."

"We had a very successful year and I was glad to see government organizations embrace our technology," said Lee Caswell, founder and chief marketing officer of Pivot3. "Power and cooling are major factors to consider in large-scale deployments typical of government programs. Pivot3’s innovations in clustered storage and virtualization bring concrete savings in power, cooling and cost that are directly tied to what buyers care about in today’s market."
