Continental Access debuts Superterm-8

Dec. 2, 2008
Expandable controller can support up to eight doors

Superterm-8 is our intelligent expandable controller that supports access control functions for one to eight doors. Our distributed processor based panel operates as a standalone unit in the event server-communications are interrupted. Once programmed using CardAccess software, a Windows based access control solution, Superterm-8 automatically stores system transactions in its internal memory and does not require continuous server communications.

Memory is field expandable, allowing for greater cardholder populations and/or a larger transaction buffer and Flash EPROM firmware easily upgrades when additional system enhancements are required. All Superterm-8 controllers come standard with extensive multi-stage lightning/transient protection for maximum reliability in harsh environments. Our controller accepts Wiegand output devices and supports virtually all card/reader technologies including, Proximity, Biometric, Magnetic Stripe, Barcode, Wiegand, Barium Ferrite, Keypad and Smart Readers.

Continental’s intelligent controller can store multiple card (bit) formats in its internal memory and allow existing card populations and readers to remain in place. Up to 63 Microterm, Miniterm, Smarterm, or Superterm controllers can be intermixed on the same communications network. Multiple communication ports can connect to our CardAccess® server for maximum system expansion. Our controllers communicate via hardwire, LAN/WAN, dial-up or fiber optics and supports RS232, RS422 and RS485 communication formats for optimal system configuration.

Superterm-8 accepts up to 3 input/output expansion boards that can be preinstalled at our factory or ordered separately and field installed. A standard on-board power supply provides 800mA @ 5VDC or 500mA @ 12VDC for reader power. Our intelligent controller can be ordered with a preinstalled expanded power supply or ordered separately and field installed.
