Updated Security Manager enhances access control, features Honeywell Temaline integration

MINNEAPOLIS, Oct. 6, 2008 – Honeywell (NYSE: HON) today released an updated version of its integrated security management platform, Honeywell Security Manager. The latest release — Security Manager R400 — provides greater visibility and control of all access and security systems through new features such as an enhanced cardholder management system, integration with Honeywell Temaline access control solutions and new visitor management options. It also leverages new Microsoft SQL Server capabilities for improved reporting and system performance.

The latest version of Security Manager delivers a new cardholder management system that tightly integrates access control with the IT network for more effective and efficient real-time facility supervision. The flexible cardholder database integrates with employee identification cards and enables organizations to designate rules and parameters specific to an individual’s facility access. Organizations can also integrate photo identification and signatures into the system database to match with ID badges for improved employee identification and tracking.

“Effective security response hinges on real-time control and visibility across a facility,” said Luca Mazzei, vice president of strategy and marketing for Honeywell Building Solutions. “Security Manager combines enterprise-wide integration and simplified building system management into a single, centralized tool that provides facility managers with the information and control they need to keep facilities safe and secure.”

Security Manager is a component of Honeywell Enterprise Buildings Integrator (EBI), a facility management platform that boosts efficiency and reduces operating costs by integrating core building technology — security, life safety, HVAC, lighting and energy systems. EBI leverages improvements in Microsoft SQL Server to provide enhanced alarm and event reporting capabilities for Security Manager users. From an IT perspective, the server upgrade enables staff to more easily create and generate reports without impacting system performance or network security.

The platform’s integration with network-based Honeywell Temaline solutions also improves system reliability and flexibility through controller-to-controller communication and enterprise integration to third-party systems. Security Manager now incorporates Temaline Reception Manager, which enables facility personnel to monitor and control guest access from any desktop computer.

In addition, the new application interface improves system operability and employee productivity through an advanced facility model that hierarchically presents information and simplifies management of access points, alarms and building systems.

For example, facility managers can view a summary of alarms by location and priority, or drill down to investigate historical information for specific events. The improved trend-archiving capabilities help operators better understand individual alarm incidents in relation to factors such as alarm patterns or in correlation with events surrounding an alarm site.

Other new features include a flexible architecture that can be used for time and attendance monitoring, or for logging entry and exit to meet regulatory or other operational requirements.
