Unnamed port uses video to secure waterways and land-based facilities

MELVILLE, N.Y., August 6, 2007 – Verint Systems Inc., a leading provider of analytic software-based solutions for security and business intelligence, today announced that a major US port has deployed its Nextiva™ Critical Infrastructure (CI) solution to enhance security of its waterways and land-based facilities.

The port is comprised of a large expanse of open water, sea channels and diversified facilities and is a high-traffic environment where foreign tonnage is offloaded to thousands of vessels for distribution across the country. Nextiva CI will enhance the security of the port’s distributed land-based facilities and open waterways for a more proactive approach to threat prevention and emergency response.

“Nextiva CI is well suited to meet the challenges of the world’s largest seaports, with its wireless and wireline edge devices that network video across expansive land and sea perimeters and award-winning analytics to proactively protect sensitive facilities and cargo,” said Dan Bodner, President and CEO of Verint Systems Inc.

Nextiva CI collects and analyzes video at the point of capture across the port facility using wireline and wireless Intelligent Edge devices, and combines this video with access control data and other enterprise data for a more comprehensive view of port activities. In the event of an emergency, Nextiva CI distributes alarms, alerts and associated video to key security command posts and the port’s centralized monitoring station, as well as to multiple law enforcement and government agencies that collaborate to ensure port security.

Nextiva CI is part of the Nextiva portfolio of networked video solutions. Nextiva enables organizations of all sizes, from small and mid-sized enterprises to major government and commercial organizations, to enhance the security of their facilities and infrastructure and the performance of their business operations by networking video across multiple locations and applying advanced content analytics to extract actionable intelligence from live and stored video. By alerting security personnel to potential security threats, Nextiva helps organizations prevent security breaches, improve response time and enhance operational efficiency.
