MCDI Launches First RoHS Compliant Alarm Receivers

Receivers to meet European mandates for lead-free design

Montreal, December 20th 2006 - MCDI Security Products Inc. announces roll out of two news alarm receivers compliant to the European RoHS directive. Starting January 8th 2007, Exprecium 3 and Decrypta 3 will be the only RoHS compliant alarm receivers available to the Security Industry. This third generation of receivers is redesigned with new lead free parts and several improvement over MCDI's generation 2 alarm receivers.

Exprecium 3 is an alarm receiver integrated on a PCI bus PC card and Decrypta 3 is a an external receiver with dual outputs and dual electrical inputs. Both models offer redundant power inputs and Decryta 3 offers a new form factor for desktop or server installations. Both models receive signals from nearly every brand of alarm panels.

The new RoHS directive is in force in all Europe since July 1st 2006 and other countries are scheduled to adopt similar directives. This directive prohibits using lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) flame retardants.
