Creating Student IDs for the Tiger Woods Learning Center

Students cherish cards that also provide tracking and identification

Minneapolis, MN (December 15, 2006) – At the Tiger Woods Learning Center (TWLC), the focus is on kids. That means when students are at the new 35,000 square foot facility in Anaheim, California, they can concentrate on the learning and enrichment opportunities available to them, letting the TWLC staff and administrators worry about security and administrative functions. One way the staff helps ensure the security of the kids on campus is with student IDs printed on Fargo Card Printer/Encoders.

The TWLC campus was designed to provide students with access to the most interactive, technologically advanced equipment and curriculum, and their ID card program is equally advanced. "The ID card system has helped us keep track of our growing number of students," said Kathy Bihr, executive director of the TWLC. As part of the student enrollment process, individual photos are taken and ID cards are created. In its first year, an estimated 3,000 students will wear their IDs while taking advantage of the TWLC programs.

An added benefit of the ID program is the keepsake the IDs provide. "The kids love having their picture taken and are so excited to take their ID card home with them at the end of the session," continued Bihr. "It's a great memento of their time at the TWLC."

The TWLC chose Fargo's DTC400 Card Printer/Encoders, which offer dual- or single-sided printing with field-upgradeable smart card, proximity and magnetic stripe encoding options. The DTC400 uses Direct-to-Card (DTC®) technology to print sharp, colorful photos and graphics as well as bar codes and digitized signatures. It features user conveniences such as Fargo's SmartLoad Ribbon Cartridge, a pre-loaded, disposable cartridge; and the SmartClean roller, which automatically removes potentially damaging dust and debris from each card before it's printed.
