S2 NetDoor MICRONODE access control device designed for small applications; works with NetBox line

WELLESLEY, MA — July 10, 2007 — S2 Security Corporation today announced the release of the S2 NetDoor MicroNode, a unique solution for physical access control over IP networks. This new product is a miniaturized network appliance that offers full access control capability for one- and two-door applications, and works in conjunction with S2’s popular S2 NetBox product line.

The S2 NetDoor lets installers connect one or two access card readers and associated inputs and outputs directly to the IP network. The device derives power from an external 12 VDC supply or from Power-over-Ethernet (PoE). Uniquely, the device has outputs that can power two electric door strikes or one magnetic lock, as well as a 12 VDC output for powering local devices such as passive infrared detectors used in request-to-exit configurations. An analog temperature monitoring point is also included on the MicroNode.

“We developed the MicroNode based on comments from installers and integrators who attended our training certification classes and were looking for a single network connection that included the capabilities of an intelligent access control panel, with the lock and device power in the same package,” noted John L. Moss, CEO of S2 Security Corporation. “With the NetDoor, integrators will see easier installation and vastly simplified battery backup for their customers.”

The S2 NetDoor MicroNode is supplied in a 7” x 7” locking enclosure with tamper detection and status indicator. Connecting multiple MicroNodes to a powered network switch simplifies power backup and eliminates the need for home run cabling that is often expensive and can be difficult to accomplish in certain applications.

Volume availability of the S2 NetDoor MicroNode is available. S2 NetBox products are available by contacting S2 Security Corporation at www.s2sys.com.
