NORCROSS, GA -- ServiceKey TSS, an IT service management company, has implemented a new IP-based physical security system through its reseller channel for Peckenpaugh's Fine Foods, a new chain of fresh gourmet markets catering to mixed-use developments throughout the United States.
The new system, offered by resellers of ServiceKey TSS solutions, incorporates digital video surveillance cameras and a high-speed network with innovative software designed to capture and store feeds from as many as 300 cameras per server. In contrast, traditional DVR-based systems allow between 10 and 32 cameras per device.
"This is a turnkey solution for technology and physical security industry resellers interested in offering their customers high-definition surveillance systems at single or multiple locations that are tied together through an Internet-based network," Everett Cope, senior security specialist for ServiceKey TSS, explained. "The systems can be adapted based on both current infrastructure and planned growth. The system at Peckenpaugh's is currently focused on one location in Atlanta. However, server capacity and the use of an IP-based system will allow the reseller to easily install cameras in new stores as they are opened and tie them into the existing network."
Michelle Corliss, the owner of Peckenpaugh's, plans to open as many as 50 new locations nationwide in the next few years.
"The camera system will allow me to monitor and store records of activity at any of my existing and new store locations," Corliss said. "In addition to the security aspect, I can monitor store activities at any time -- by simply opening my laptop and logging on -- to make sure that my customers are receiving the highest level of service possible."
ServiceKey TSS' development and support teams have more than 25 years of experience specifying and installing traditional surveillance camera networks for banks, restaurants and retail chains, as well as law enforcement and other security-centric industries. This experience allows them to easily specify the right technology, hardware and camera configurations for any given scenario -- allowing resellers to offer a turnkey solution to their customers that can still be modified based on individual business needs.
"Working with experienced resellers, we are just beginning to see the potential behind these systems," Cope said. "High resolution video combined with central off-site storage and replay-ability will result in new applications involving activities like license-plate and facial recognition in schools and airports, warehouse and shipping monitoring, and point-of-sale reviews, just to name a few. Truly, the applications for these systems are endless."
The new system from ServiceKey TSS offers additional advantages for security and technology resellers, including:
-- Offsite storage that is easily accessible from almost anywhere in the world via the Internet
-- Massive storage capacity allowing businesses to retain years of footage from hundreds of cameras based on the number of servers
-- A truly flexible system that can be easily upgraded by adding new cameras and software
-- Quality assurance measures, such as the ability to tell when a camera has been moved or is out of focus
-- Cost-effective solutions that eliminate the need for expensive digital video recorders and storage media
-- Customer support service from experienced security and IT experts.
