In Memoriam: Tom Few, Sr., Founder of Criticom

July 25, 2007
Friend to many in industry, Few turned King Central into Criticom, which became largest independent monitoring firm

Tom Few, Sr., known to most as "Sr.," quietly passed away at home with his family after a year long battle against cancer. Tom is survived by his wife Eleanor, his five children Suzanne, Tommy, Jeffrey, Robert and Kathleen, two granddaughters Morgan and Madison (with two grandbabies on the way).

Throughout Tom's forty-plus years in the alarm industry he had many professional successes including being the founding father of the largest independent alarm monitoring company, Criticom. But as he would have wanted it, he will be most remembered by his family, friends, colleagues and "work family" for his down to earth personality, his kindness, and generous spirit.

Tom was a husband, father, and a "Papa" to his family, but to countless others he was friend and mentor. Tom believed and counseled many along the way that "the only thing you truly own in life is your character, without it you have nothing, and you do take it with you, so treat it well." Tom's integrity, loyalty and honesty were all qualities that endeared him to us. A man who made everything possible, wanted nothing in return, and taught us never to quit. He will be missed, but always remembered in our hearts.

"What do you say about a guy who never said no to the associations when we needed something, when something needed to be done," said NBFAA President and CAA Past President George Gunning. "Tom was a man of integrity who contributed his talent and intellect to promote our associations and our industry. He was a true friend to me and our industry and he will be missed."

The funeral mass was held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Oakland, N.J. on July 22. Memorial donations may be made to:
