Orion Security Services to use GPS for monitoring of officers working on high-value transport operations

Contigo, a provider of GPS solutions used primarily in fleet management and asset tracking, announced today that private security firm Orion Security Services (www.orionsecurityservices.com) will be using the company's technology.

Contigo, which was formerly known as Guardian Mobile Monitoring Systems, offers managed GPS solutions for mobile tracking. In the case of Orion Security Services, which provides off-duty law enforcement officers for high-security details, the GPS solutions will be able to aid Orion in monitoring and protecting of its security staff while in the field. Many of Orion's staff are used for the escort and transport of high-dollar items, a unique security services niche which stresses the importance of staff protection and monitoring.

Orion's CEO Bill Schmitt said the company's focus on high-value security services encouraged him to look at tracking solutions, and he called the GPS monitoring of personnel "an emerging high-growth segment."
