WINDSOR LOCKS, Conn., July 13 -- The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has named Peter Boynton federal security director (FSD) for Bradley International Airport.
Previously, Boynton served as a captain in the United States Coast Guard and commanding officer of the Long Island Sound Sector. In this position, he oversaw Coast Guard security and law enforcement operations for Connecticut and Long Island, working extensively and in close collaboration with state, local and federal agencies and the private sector.
"Peter Boynton brings a wealth of hands-on experience in law enforcement and transportation security," said Mo McGowan, TSA's assistant administrator for Security Operations. "This experience combined with his extensive knowledge of Connecticut's security operations and unique challenges make him ideally suited to lead our efforts at Bradley."
In his 28 years at the United States Coast Guard, Boynton was chief of Governmental Affairs, Coast Guard Operations planner for the Northeast U.S., and the commanding officer of CG Cutter Escanaba. Additionally, Boynton has served as director of Global Affairs for the White House National Security Council, and in a number of intelligence and aviation law enforcement functions earlier in his career.
He holds a bachelor's degree in Ocean Engineering from the United States Coast Guard Academy and a master's degree in public administration from Harvard University.
Boynton is replacing David Ishihara, who was hired by the Massachusetts Port Authority as Logan International Airport's director of Aviation Operations.
