Saab signs contract for surveillance at Swedish prison

April 9, 2008

Saab has signed a contract worth 282 million SEK, with Securitas Systems as sub-contractor. The order is for advanced surveillance systems at new maximum security units and remand centers.

"Through the contract we are establishing a long term collaboration where Saab becomes a technical partner to the Swedish Prison and Probation Service and assumes overall responsibility," says Peter Wimmerström, Managing Director of Saab Systems. "For Saab, this means that we further strengthen our position in the market for civil security."

Saab will supply surveillance systems to four surveillance centers as the total contractor with overall responsibility for the technical solution. Securitas Systems is responsible for the main part of installation work, support and maintenance. The installation will be complete by 2009.

The surveillance system will be adapted to the Swedish Prison and Probation Service operations in a common process. Saab has extensive experience of operational adaptation of solutions with the Armed Forces.

The contract has been signed with Specialfastigheter AB, which has responsibility for the Swedish Prison and Probation Service buildings.
