April 3, 2008
The new platform includes more than 200 new features

LAS VEGAS, ISC West, Booth # 11063, April 2, 2008 — Lenel Systems International is previewing the next generation of its premier integrated security software platform, OnGuard 2008 Plus. The new platform includes more than 200 new features such as enhanced visitor management, expanded intrusion detection functionality, and new capabilities in ID and video management. Lenel is part of UTC Fire & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX).

Enhancements to the OnGuard v isitor management system include a new easy to use interface, simplified deployment and the creation of three software modules tailored to the needs of specific end users. There is also a self-service kiosk application that enables visitors to use a touch screen to sign into or out of a facility, capture their photo, and print a badge.

OnGuard 2008 Plus also offers expanded intrusion detection capabilities including the ability to create virtual panels for intrusion areas in the OnGuard system. Perimeter, interior, follower, and 24-hour point types can be defined for arm stay and arm away modes on the Lenel Command Keypad and on OSDP readers with LCD displays. Support for up to 128 access levels per badge provides more flexible, granular control of access and intrusion permissions.

Support for H.264 compatible cameras is also integrated into OnGuard 2008 Plus. H.264, also known as MPEG-4 Part 10, is a video compression standard that reduces bandwidth and storage costs by providing good video quality from smaller amounts of data.

The OnGuard 2008 Plus supplemental disc will include the Device Discovery Tool, a Windows application that automatically recognizes, configures and addresses IP cameras and controllers in the OnGuard system, simplifying both installation and configuration. Lenel is the only company to offer a brand-agnostic tool of this kind. Lastly, OnGuard 2008 Plus will include support for Real-Time
Transport Protocol over Real-Time Streaming Protocol (RTP/RTSP) an open standard for efficiently delivering video and audio data in real time over IP networks.
