RFID system will help track assets, monitor costs, enhance security at plant

This will be the second Nissan plant in the US to deploy ID Systems' technology; Nissan's Smyrna, Tennessee, facility implemented the system earlier this year.

The system, which utilizes RFID technology, addresses the needs of organizations to control, track, monitor, and analyze their assets. According to the vendor, the system reduces operating costs and capital expenditures, and lets manufacturers comply with certain safety regulations by accurately and reliably measuring and controlling fleet activity.

The system also enhances security at industrial facilities and areas of critical infrastructure, such as airports, by controlling access to, and restricting the use of, vehicles and equipment.
