Impinj’s Speedway Gen 2 Reader added to ADT’s physical layer RFID solutions

BOCA RATON, Fla. and SEATTLE, Wash. – ADT Security Services, Inc., a unit of Tyco Fire & Security, and Impinj, Inc., a leader in Gen 2 Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) reader technology and the number one Gen 2 chip provider, today announced an agreement under which ADT will resell Impinj’s Speedway Gen 2 RFID readers in North America.

Under the agreement, ADT will offer the Speedway readers as part of its integrated physical layer RFID solution for retailers and manufacturers in the supply chain.  Impinj’s Speedway reader will be added to ADT’s full spectrum of physical layer RFID products and services including tags, antennas, printers and applicators, device management software, field service and global RFID lab testing services. ADT has implemented RFID solutions for major retailers and consumer goods manufacturers.

Impinj’s Speedway reader received the EPCglobal Gen 2 standard certification mark and has been successfully installed in large North American retail and distribution environments that require RFID technology to improve supply chain efficiency. The Speedway reader exhibits high levels of performance and was recently demonstrated to support item-level RFID tracking for pharmaceuticals, apparel, CD/DVDs and many other high value products.

“We believe the Impinj Gen 2 reader technology is one of the best RFID reader technologies in the market today and is an example of the thought leadership that Impinj has brought to the RFID industry,” said Randy Dunn, director of RFID for ADT North America.  “The addition of the Speedway reader to our product line will allow us to continue to provide our customers with the highest quality in products and services available.”

“ADT has a long history of working with major retailers and manufacturers worldwide” said William Colleran, president and CEO at Impinj.  “This agreement will help broaden the market reach of our Speedway reader, which has one of the highest levels of performance and was one of the first RFID readers to receive the EPCglobal hardware certification mark.”
