Biology department gets digital surveillance system to protect lab assets

CITY OF INDUSTRY, Calif. - Global ePoint, Inc., a leading manufacturer of security technologies for the aviation, law enforcement, government, and commercial/industrial markets, announced today that Tops Digital Security (Tops), a provider of large enterprise video surveillance systems that are designed primarily for high quality video capture and central monitoring security operation, has completed the installation of Tops Digital's video recording equipment and cameras at The Department of Molecular and Cell Biology at University of California Berkeley. The video surveillance solution was designed to protect the Department's laboratory equipment from theft or vandalism. Global ePoint recently entered into an agreement to acquire the assets, including intellectual property and customer base, of Tops.

Tops Digital trained the Molecular and Cell Biology Department's staff on installation of the cables, cameras and digital video recording equipment. The Department now has a central monitoring system that allows it to monitor their facility remotely, as well as the ability to add additional cameras and DVR's to meet their needs and expansion requirements Additional departments can also install Tops' equipment, which can be monitored from one central location.

"While vertical markets such as gaming and museums offer compelling opportunities for wide-scale deployment of the systems, niche markets such as education institutions demonstrate the versatility of the suite of products," said Toresa Lou, Global ePoint's CEO. "We believe Tops' growing customer base will allow Global ePoint to significantly expand sales of its security and surveillance products beyond its core markets. "

The Tops systems are total integrated solutions which can provide D1 CIF quality video recording capability, the highest level available, along with the front-end surveillance cameras, fiber optic cabling, and the command center application to network and control the hundreds of cameras in a high-security level project such as is used in museums, casino gaming and government installations. The Tops' solution has proprietary video surveillance technology that efficiently integrates the ability to capture D1 quality video while maintaining a secure and fast system for recording, monitoring, managing, and archiving video surveillance.
