Palm-sized detector to provide advanced bomb sniffing functionality at low costs

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Sense Holdings, Inc., a developer of next-generation biometric and explosive detection security technologies for government and commercial security markets, announced today the availability of photographs of its newly announced first-generation handheld explosive detection device.

The current model can detect the explosives TNT and PETN. It is the first in a planned line of handheld explosive detection devices based on the Company's proprietary Micro Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS) technology.

Sense recently reached a critical milestone in bringing this technology out of the laboratory with the capability for portable demonstrations. Sense is developing its line of advanced detection products under a research and development partnership with the Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Oak Ridge, TN, which is operated by the US Department of Energy (DOE). Sense is the sole commercialization partner for security applications of Oak Ridge's MEMS-based technologies and products.

When introduced commercially, the portable device's cutting-edge technology is intended to provide airports, homeland security agencies, corporate America and other customers with optimized explosive detection capabilities at a fraction of the costs of current explosive detection products. The photos of the current demonstration device, while not in final commercial form, indicate the general size of the unit, which is approximately 5 inches in length.

"We are positioning Sense's detection products to redefine the explosive detection device industry in terms of price, weight, performance and ease of use," said Dore Perler, CEO of Sense Holdings. "The demonstration device will enable us to show potential customers exactly how effectively our technology performs in a compact form factor."

The Company also released illustrations that more closely resemble the actual expected form of the future commercial product. These images are also available for viewing at the above link.

Sense will now market the prototype device to such target customers as airports, police departments, federal facilities and military bases, ports and international border agencies, and private stadiums and arenas.

Sense develops advanced proprietary solutions to address worldwide needs in Homeland Security and counterterrorism. Among its customers are the U.S. Army and U.S. Department of Corrections, in addition to some of the world's largest international companies.
