LOVELAND, Colo., April 20 /PRNewswire/ -- A ShiftWatch(R) Transportation Video Surveillance System (TVS) captured dramatic footage currently being viewed on national television of Monday's stabbing incident on a Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (RTA) trolley. The TVS system, manufactured by A4S Security, Inc. (Nasdaq: SWAT, SWATW; NYSE Arca: SWAT, SWATW) enabled the Cleveland Police Department to identify and arrest the suspect.
The incident, which occurred on Monday, April 17, 2006, involved an argument over a seat. According to news reports, "the high-quality security cameras caught the argument and the violent incident."
Cleveland RTA has four million riders, making it one of the largest transportation systems in the U.S. Currently, the ShiftWatch TVS systems are installed on eleven Cleveland buses and trolleys. According to RTA authorities all of the new trolleys and every bus in the future will have high-tech cameras and GPS tracking systems.
"We are pleased that the high quality of our ShiftWatch video surveillance system contributed to the resolution of this matter," said Matt Siemens, A4S executive vice president sales and marketing. "We believe, in this incident, the system has proven its value as compared to competitive systems."
The ShiftWatch full motion video eliminates "choppy" video segments and instead creates broadcast quality footage synchronized with audio and other data like GPS, speed, and event switches. The ShiftWatch products, utilizing patent-pending video streaming technology, are operational in transit systems in Kansas City, MO, Cleveland, OH, Lafayette, IN and Stockton, CA, and have been instrumental in assisting law enforcement officials and courts in determining the cause of several disputed incidents. The company is currently in negotiation with several other municipalities throughout the country.
