Pivot3 and Petards Collaborate on High-Definition Video Storage Solutions

Large-Scale Security Environments Benefit from the Latest Storage and Video Management Solutions

Las Vegas, Nev. – September 24, 2007 – Pivot3 Inc, the inventor of high-definition storage based on distributed RAID, and Petards, Inc., a leading developer of advanced surveillance systems, today announced that they are bringing high-definition video storage solutions to the physical security market. The collaboration between the two companies simplifies the deployment of large-scale video security systems for integrators and resellers. As part of the agreement, Pivot3 and Petards have jointly tested their respective products to ensure seamless field integration and a unified support path. The companies also are providing joint marketing, training, and customer support for authorized resellers and integrators.

The combined solution will be demonstrated at the ASIS International 2007 trade show in Las Vegas, at the Pivot3 booth #1295, September 24-27, 2007. Specifically, Pivot3 is demonstrating a high-definition storage solution built on the Pivot3 RAIGEâ„¢ (RAID Across Independent Gigabit Ethernet) architecture with support for up to hundreds of cameras, while Petards is demonstrating its award-winning Universal Video Management System (UVMSâ„¢), which has been deployed at many leading end-user sites.

“We are working with Petards to simplify the deployment of large-scale open-system video solutions,” said Lee Caswell, co-founder and executive vice president of Pivot3. “We are removing the fear factor often associated with traditional networked storage by providing an easy-to-manage, pre-tested solution that is affordable and backed by a strong support team. With Petards, our goal is to help more integrators and resellers participate in large-scale installations by addressing integration and support concerns upfront.”

“Petards is protecting some of the most recognizable ‘icons’ in the world; from the Smithsonian Institution to the Lawn Tennis Championships at Wimbledon, security directors put their trust in Petards. Our customers have discovered that scaling at the edge by adding more cameras requires increased storage at the core,” said Frank Baitman, president of Petards. “By working together with Pivot3, we can bring the unique benefits of Petards, including a simplified graphical user interface, to large-scale installations. Pivot3 helps us to fine-tune our offerings for markets such as the gaming industry, making a robust networked storage solution available to those casinos with substantial storage requirements. We are excited to find a storage partner with this level of focus on the video surveillance market, so that integrators’ needs, as well as the technical needs of the market, are addressed.”

Pivot3 High-Definition Storage is optimized for the largest video surveillance applications, storing twice the video and supporting up to five times the data streams of traditional controller-based storage systems. The Pivot3 RAIGE architecture reduces storage infrastructure costs by up to 50 percent, while significantly increasing scalability, performance and data availability. Superior data protection is achieved across multiple networked storage nodes, called Databanks, which are built using industry-standard x86 servers and disk drives, and are connected via cost-effective Gigabit Ethernet.
