Vicon adds IR models to varifocal lenses line

New lenses provide quality images in daylight or at night

Vicon Industries, a leading designer and producer of video surveillance systems, today announced the addition of six new IR lenses to its line of varifocal lenses. IR lenses are used with true day/night cameras to provide sharp, focused images in daylight and at night, particularly in the presence of IR light.

As these lenses provide an adjustable angle of view, from very wide to normal, they eliminate the need for trial-and-error lens fitting and for the stocking of multiple fixed-focal-length lenses to cover different viewing angles. They are designed for use on 1/3-inch format CCTV cameras and may also be used on Ľ-inch format cameras. Optical construction of 10 elements in 7 groups assures sharp, high-contrast images. The lenses are equipped with CS-type mounts.

"The increased use of true day/night cameras has led to a greater need for lenses that can optimally accommodate a wide range of light conditions. Vicon is pleased to offer these new IR lenses, and to do so at price points that are similar to our non-IR lenses," said Bret McGowan, vice president of sales and marketing.
