Compact MPEG-4 video server converts analog video into IP/Ethernet MPEG-4 streams

Optelecom-NKF, a provider of advanced IP video network solutions, is releasing its S-40, a new, compact MPEG-4 video server that converts analog video into IP/Ethernet MPEG-4 streams.

Optelecom-NKF said that because of its plug-and-play functionality, the S-40 is the perfect solution for migrating from existing analog systems to digital video surveillance systems.

The S-40 MPEG-4 streaming video is optimized for both low bandwidth and Hi-Res DVD-quality video applications. It offers streaming audio, data, dry contacts, video motion detect, and pre-recording. The compact and stylish housing is developed to ensure a wide operating temperature range. The versatile MPEG-4 video server is well-suited for almost any CCTV or camera monitoring application, the company noted.

Based on the latest DSP technologies, the S-40 video server has a dual coreMPEG-4 encoder, enabling it to simultaneously stream two different video formats to multiple IP destinations, e.g., one full frame-rate stream monitoring and one time-lapsed dedicated for storage on the i-NVR.

"The S-40 video server helps our customers leverage their investment in existing analog security systems while increasing flexibility and functionality in a network environment," stated Edmund Ludwig, Optelecom-NKF's president and CEO. "This new MPEG-4 video server is the latest addition to our Siqura surveillance solution and is interoperable with our MX Software Suite, Operator Office, and i-NVR product suite."
